Arjan Si&#7749gh belonged to the village of Ch&#257hal in Amritsar district. He held large <i>j&#257g&#299rs</i> in Tarn T&#257ran <i>tahs&#299l</i> and in Lyallpur district. He was an honorary magistrate and civil judge, an assistant collector and sub-registrar of his district, president of the Local Board of Tarn T&#257ran, a Fellow of the Pañj&#257b University, and a member of the Aitchison College Committee.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;He received the title of Sard&#257r Bah&#257dur in 1894 and was made a Companion of the Indian Empire in 1906. He was manager of the Darb&#257r S&#257hib, Amritsar, for over seven years until he resigned in 1896.
